The 2022/2023 Batch of National Service Personnel at CalBank Refurbishes a 3-Unit Classroom Block at Bogyawe-Ankaasi JHS in the Ashanti Region

The 2022/2023 batch of National Service Personnel at CalBank has renovated a 3-unit classroom block at the Bogyawe-Ankaasi JHS, Bekwai in the Ashanti Region. For several years, the community had been grappling with the dire need for renovations at the school, which had seen limited improvements since its construction many years ago.

The renovation which forms part of an annual project by service persons at CalBank was funded with money from their monthly allowances and contributions from staff and the bank at large.
The project cost GHS70,000 and included fixing the roof, ceilings, electrical systems, adding formica boards, providing tables and chairs, supplying learning materials, installing doors and windows, and doing plastering and painting. The renovated building would house the head teacher’s office as well. Handing over the refurbished facility to the school’s administrators, Head of Marketing at CalBank, Mr. Kofi Siabi, said he was hopeful that the school’s administrators will ensure effective maintenance of the facility to justify the efforts of the personnel towards
ensuring that quality education is delivery at the school.

The president of the 2022/2023 batch of NSP at CalBank, Mr. Banahene Owusu on his part, stated that the project was a dream come through for the group. He commended his mates, management of CalBank and other sponsors for their support. In her speech during the handing over ceremony, Queen Mother of Ankaase, Amoafo Kontrihemaa, Nana Yaa Pokuaa, also commended the 2022/2023 batch of NSP and CalBank for their immense support towards uplifting the face of education in her community. She disclosed that the school was built by community members many years ago and since its establishment, there has not been any renovation.

Receiving the refurbished classroom unit, the Headteacher at the school, Mr. Emmanuel Benko, expressed his appreciation on behalf of the school and the whole community to the personnel for coming to the aid of school, which according to him was in dire need of such support.

He stated that the school can now function much better in a more comfortable and suitable environment. Members of the community also shared their joy and gratitude with singing and dancing, thanking the NSP and CalBank for their generosity. They were grateful that their children will now have a safe environment to be educated in.
